Public speaking has always been one of my favorite ways to connect with the community. Whether it’s a hallway talk at a conference or a virtual session on best practices, sharing what I’ve learned helps me grow just as much as it helps others.

Lately, that calendar has been filling up faster than ever. From podcast appearances to upcoming conference talks, here’s a look at the speaking side of my world — and some of the exciting things coming down the pipe.

Building Bridges, Not Walls

Kicking things off, I had the pleasure of joining the Infrastructure as Code Podcast, hosted by Ohad the founder of Env0, who’s also one of the OpenTofu founders.

It was a great conversation and if you’re into Terraform, Open Tofu, or just Infrastructure as Code or platform engineering in general, it’s worth checking out.

Code-to-Cloud: Azure Landing Zones with AVM

I’m also collaborating with Kevin Evans, Matt White, and Jared Holgate for an upcoming Code-to-Cloud episode, where we’ll be exploring Azure Landing Zones using AVM modules.

Now, real talk: I don’t typically use public modules. I prefer building and maintaining local modules tailored to my needs. But I get the community interest in AVM, and this collab is a great opportunity to finally get my hands dirty with it.

In fact, I’ve been toying with the idea of launching a YouTube series where I dissect each AVM module, one at a time — offering honest (but kind) architectural feedback. Could be a lot of fun.

Upcoming Talks: Stir Trek and PlatformCon

The speaking circuit is also picking up steam. First up: Stir Trek on May 2, right here in Columbus, OH. Super excited to be part of this local developer favorite.

Then there’s PlatformCon, where I’ve got two virtual slots lined up:

  1. Learn Infrastructure-as-Code through Minecraft
  2. Automate the Automation with Terraform: Deep Dive into the GitHub AT-AT

No in-person appearance this time (womp womp), but the talks will be pre-recorded and likely released as video-on-demand, maybe on YouTube or through something Channel 9-style. Especially thrilled to finally record the Minecraft talk — it was a hit at HashiConf, but that one never made it to video.

Fingers Crossed: HashiDays and HashiConf

Still waiting to hear back on HashiDays Singapore. No official rejection yet, so I’m holding onto hope. I submitted a handful of talks, and I’d love to have one of them picked up. Same goes for HashiConf — nothing confirmed yet, but fingers crossed.

Sadly, I didn’t get selected for HashiDays London, so the UK continues to elude me. Maybe next year.

Developers and IaC: KCDC, Here I Come

Biggest speaking news of the month? I just got accepted to KCDC (Kansas City Developer Conference)! I’m particularly excited about this one because I genuinely believe developers need to understand Infrastructure as Code.

If I can help shift that mindset — even just a little — I’ll consider that a win.

KCDC is happening August 13–15, and while I don’t have my exact speaking slot yet, my face is already on the website. Developer energy, platform topics — this one is going to be fun.

Conclusion

The months ahead are packed with opportunities to connect, share, and learn together. Whether it’s a podcast mic, a YouTube upload, or a big- (or small-) stage conference talk, I’m committed to helping folks navigate the multi-cloud, one conversation at a time.

If you’re attending any of these events — virtually or in person — come say “Hello!”
